Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apso Heritage

Did you know the Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apso share a common heritage? They originated in Tibet, where they were bred by Tibetan monks. The Lhasa Apso, in particular, was considered a sacred dog, often used to guard temples and monasteries. The Lhasa Apsos were also given as gifts to Chinese royalty. It is believed that Lhasa Apsos were bred with Pekingese dogs in the imperial court, leading to the development of the Shih Tzu breed. The Shih Tzu is known for its affectionate and playful nature, while the Lhasa Apso tends to be more independent and reserved.
