Some might think artificial trees are the greener option. However, real Christmas trees can be a lifeline for wildlife, before, during, and even after the holidays.

  1. Support for Wildlife:
    • While they’re growing: Evergreens act as natural habitats . On Christmas tree farms, the trees provide cover and food for a variety of creatures, including rabbits, foxes, and birds.
    • After the holidays: Place your tree outside to provide shelter for birds and small animals during the colder months. Decorate it with wildlife-friendly treats like suet balls, peanut butter-covered pinecones, or strings of popcorn and cranberries to create a backyard sanctuary.
  2. Biodegradable and Renewable: Real trees are fully biodegradable and can be recycled into mulch or compost after the holidays. In contrast, artificial trees are made from PVC and other plastics, which take centuries to decompose.
  3. Carbon Storage: While growing, Christmas trees absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, contributing to cleaner air. Tree farms are often rotated, with one tree planted for every one harvested, ensuring sustainability.
  4. Support for Local Farmers: When you buy a real tree, you’re supporting local agriculture and rural communities. Tree farms create jobs and help maintain green spaces.

Evergreens remain vibrant and green during winter, symbolizing resilience, endurance, and the promise of new beginnings.

As a centerpiece of holiday gatherings, the Christmas tree embodies family, community, and the spirit of coming together to celebrate.
