“Koala Daydream” mixed-media painting on paper | Jackie Foster Art

Wrapped in soft stillness, the koala drifts into a gentle daydream. A quiet sense of wonder lingers, holding the moment in peaceful calm.

Behind the scenes — watch how this sweet koala came to life on paper. This short mixed-media process video captures parts of the journey from the initial graphite sketch to the finished painting.

I used many supplies on this one, including gouache, InkTense blocks, watercolor pencils, colored pencils, Neocolor II art crayons, ink pens, white gel pens, and a white Posca marker. So much layering, and so much fun!

A Few Koala Facts

  • Koalas sleep up to 18–22 hours a day
  • Often referred to as “koala bears”, they are not actually bears.
