A table of ripe fruit, glowing with color and sweetness.
Ready to be savored, waiting to be chosen.
Fresh fruit felt like a special gift when I was growing up. With many mouths to feed on a tight budget, it was not always available and was truly savored when it appeared. I have carried that appreciation with me ever since.
I cherish fresh fruit. In New England, the choices are limited in winter and grow more abundant as the weather warms. I look forward to watermelon in summer and apples and pears in autumn. Other favorites include ripe cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple, and blueberries whenever they are available. Whether enjoyed on their own, tossed into a garden salad, or stirred into warm oatmeal, fruit is always a nourishing and delicious treat.
Every piece in this painting looks delicious, and I’m not sure which one I would reach for first. It is a joy to imagine the flavors and textures of each one.
